Mirataz 20mg/ml Transdermal Ointment for Cats

Mirataz contains the active ingredient mirtazapine, which is absorbed through the skin of the cat’s ear and into the bloodstream. It is used to promote weight gain in cats with reduced appetite due to chronic medical conditions.

While the exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, mirtazapine is believed to increase appetite by influencing several systems, including serotonin and histamine pathways, as well as modulating leptin levels—a hormone involved in hunger regulation.

Important Usage Information:

Only apply as directed by your veterinary surgeon.

Do not use in cats that are pregnant, nursing, or intended for breeding.

Not suitable for cats under 7.5 months old or weighing less than 2kg.

Do not use if your cat is hypersensitive to mirtazapine or any ingredient in the product.

Avoid use in cats currently receiving cyproheptadine, tramadol, or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or those who have received an MAOI within the past 14 days due to the risk of serotonin syndrome.

Always read the product packaging and leaflet before use. Prescription required.
