Vidalta Prolonged-Release Tablets for Cats

Vidalta is a Prescription Only Medication (POM-V) used for the treatment of hyperthyroidism and associated clinical signs in cats.

Key Information:

Available in 10mg and 15mg tablet strengths.

Do not crush or break Vidalta tablets.

Treatment must be continuous, as stopping can lead to a rapid return of elevated thyroid hormone levels.

Kidney and liver function should be monitored before and during treatment, as underlying conditions may worsen.

Contraindications:

Do not use in cats with concurrent systemic diseases, such as severe liver disease or diabetes mellitus.

Not suitable for cats showing signs of autoimmune disease or abnormal blood cell counts (e.g. anaemia, neutropaenia, lymphopaenia).

Do not use in cats with platelet disorders (e.g. thrombocytopaenia) or coagulopathies.

Not to be used in cats with known hypersensitivity to carbimazole, thiamazole (methimazole), or any excipients.

Safety Information for Handlers:

Always wash hands thoroughly after handling the tablets or cat litter used by treated cats.

Pregnant women and women of child-bearing age must wear gloves when handling carbimazole.
